Starting to lay the deck

151 days

On Tuesday, the deck planking arrived. We're using quarter sawn douglas fir 1 3/4" thick. It has been at Potager for the last few weeks where Saffa has been painting the underside. The top surface of the deck will remain bare.

The first to go down was the margin board which goes across the deck under the fore end of the coachroof. When this was down Barnaby and Mark set to on the fore deck whilst I got on with the port side deck. You can see from one of the pictures in the deck photo gallery that after working our way upwards for the last year, we've finally arrived at the shed roof. There'll be no room to stand on the deck until launch day.

Three days of deck laying took its toll on the knees but progress was good and if all goes well it should all be down next week.
